We bought a Caravan!
Lets start with our original set-up
When we first started traveling Western Australia, we were doing small trips in the 120 Prado with a Kings roof-top tent. Our original plan was to travel Australia with this set-up, but after doing a few 2-week trips we realised that if we were to be living out of our car for a year, we wanted a little more comfort and luxury. Especially when weather conditions are not in our favour! We experienced some windy trips in this set-up and it wasn’t pleasant.
Why did we buy a caravan?
Like we said – comfort and that little bit of luxury!! We don’t want to get to the stage where we are “over it” and want to come home, which sometimes happened when we were in the roof-top tent. The ease of being able to arrive to a location, have a quick set-up and then be able to leave it there as our base was a huge motivator.
We knew we wanted a small off-road caravan and started doing our research into what our options were with our budget.
Why did we choose an Austrack?
We really wanted to support a WA brand, however, there wasn’t really many hybrid options in our budget. The Austrack caravan came with all the additional “extras” as a standard such as aircon. Our final decision really did come down to value for money and what was included as standard with Austrack.
